Makena Onjerika is a young Kenyan writer, winner of the Caine Award for African Writing in 2018. She was short-listed for the Bristol 2020 Award and was nominated for the Best of the Network 2020 Awards. After her victory at the Caine Award, she founded the Academy of Nairobi Writing where she teaches the craft of fiction to new and emerging writers and collaborates with other writers to teach other forms of creative writing.
